Welcome to my Butterfly Park Series page. For this Series I used acrylic paint and ink, with coloured crayon and pencil marks sometimes partially erased or overpainted, pastel and graphite. Built up in many layers, I used transparent and opaque materials to allow the under layers to show through. The collage material is a mix; found fragments of old wallpaper, maps, and newspaper, scraps of doily, and dress pattern. I love using Dress patterns in my work as it is delicate and crispy, yet strong with a beautiful subtle translucent sepia colour with it’s interesting instructional lines and shapes. I like putting marks in my work which look to be saying, explaining something without specifically stating something. I print marks using a variety of everyday items; the edge of corrugated cardboard, bottle tops of different sizes, game kit sprues, cookie cutters, letter stencils and stamps, the mesh from a bag of oranges and old photographs.
